INDOOR SURFING CENTRE FOR LONDON
The Surfdome, the first of its kind in Europe, will feature a 75m long pool simulating perfect surfing waves. The complex will be a colossal 1.5 acres and like the countries indoor ski centres and theme parks, the Surfdome will feature a huge retail space, complete with cheesy bars, restaurants and a climbing wall. Entry at about £20 is an expensive session, but still cheaper than driving to Croyde or Cornwall for wave starved surfers in the city. Whats more the wave would not be affected by north westerlys and would never be flat, unless there was a power cut or a blip in the matrix or something. Sound good?
It could look something like this:
WAVES ON DEMAND- SURF IN BOARD SHORTS IN THE UK!!!
The technology can produce hollow waves up to 8 feet! so it will be possible to get an overhead barrel in your boardshorts in the UK! It won't be grinding all the time though, The machine can produce more mellow waves for beginners and surf instructors will also be on hand.
Just when you thought surfing couldn't get any more popular the Surfdome visionaire and soul surfer Justin Stone said he believes his concept will make surfing as popular and as accessible as snowboarding.
"We see the future as Stadium Surfing with multi-national sponsors and broadcasters helping to push the sport in a similar fashion to snowboarding," he said.
There are 5 other wave parks pencilled in for the UK and the concept is expected to spread through Europe. The Orlando surf complex built by the same crew is due to open soon.
Its more likely that the surfdome would look like this.
